Sheffield Collegiate Cricket Club officially partner with Cricfit

We are delighted to make our long standing partnership with Sheffield Collegiate Cricket Club official! We have been working with the South Yorkshire Premier League champions since our inception in 2020 with Cricfit founder, Sam, being a member and a part of the championship winning side. We have worked with many Collegiate members already from the U11’s through to the 1st XI but now, we are delighted to be taking it one step further.

Sheffield Collegiate CC, the childhood club of Joe Root and Michael Vaughan, are embedding Cricfit S&C programmes within their membership offering to their players. This will include an option at for everyone at the club to develop their fitness whether they are an aspiring junior, 1st team player, Women’s & Girls player or even a retired parent. This will give Sheffield Collegiate's players access to professional, cricket-specific, strength & conditioning programmes to improve their players performance and reduce their risk of injury.

What cricket club doesn’t want more powerful cricketers with greater availability!

Not only will this benefit the players and clubs performance levels but it makes the club more attractive to potential new players and sponsors. We are delighted to be on this journey in modernising Sheffield Collegiate CC to not only cement their place as one of the leading clubs in Yorkshire but also in the UK.

As many of you will be aware, our 1st XI wicket-keeper, Sam Hunt, runs Cricfit. Cricfit specialises in the cricket specific fitness space and many of our existing players have benefited directly from Sam’s help over the past 5 years. Beyond that, Sam has grown Cricfit into a business which operates worldwide and has helped hundreds of cricketers to bowl quicker, hit the ball further and play pain free cricket. This year, we are excited to be taking our partnership with Sam and Cricfit one step further and giving you the opportunity when you sign up to a Cricfit strength & conditioning programme when you complete your membership forms. Cricfit will provide an option for everyone at the club to develop their fitness whether you are an aspiring junior, 1st team player, Women’s & Girls player or even a retired parent. As a club, we want to be the best and that starts by being the fittest side on the pitch. It’s no coincidence that since Sam has been at the club, the standard of fitness has gone up and with that so has performance level and availability. We are proud of what Sam has done so far and want to back one of our own in continuing to develop his business in what we can all see is an important area.

A case study from a parents point of view - Mark Longley - Chairman

Here is my personal review of the work Sam has done with my son, Daniel:

Sam has worked with my son Dan for many years, especially before he was more involved in the Yorkshire setup, and helped him to develop from a junior who struggled to hit the ball of the square to being a real athlete. Having a solid athletic base has also allowed Dan to bounce back quickly from an injury last year which was caused by a high bowling workload. Sam never tries to sell a miracle solution and it is impossible to full remove the risk of injury in any sport but I believe that had Dan not worked so hard with Sam prior to injury, it would have been a bigger setback in his career.

Next up, a player who has come all the way through the ranks to play a crucial role in us winning our first league title in 20 years.

I was the first player at the club to work with Sam at Abbeydale Gym and have recently completed workout number 1000 on the Cricfit app. I know this doesn’t make pretty stats or insta pictures but I'm 32 and haven't played in any pain beyond the usual old man stiffness in 4 years...I was a pill popper and deep heat rubber from 24-28

A case study from an ex-professional cricketers point of view

Finally, ex-professional cricketer and Sheffield Collegiate Legend, Shaaiq Choudhry.

I’ve worked with Cricfit for a couple of years after struggling with some injuries and it’s helped me massively. I’ve made huge improvements since working with them. For anyone looking to improve performance and general health/fitness I’d definitely recommend Cricfit.
